
Drawing the Sun Fun Festival®– A Celebration of Summer to a close, the 3rd annual Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival will take place on Labor Day weekend the evening of August 29 and all day August 30. The festival will feature family-friendly entertainment and events, including live music, the official barbeque competition of South Carolina, a classic car show, competitive BBQ sandwich eating competition, a HUGE kids’ area, boat rides on the lake, arts and crafts vendors, a car giveaway and so much more! Friday, August 29
5 - 8 p.m. - Still Cruzin’ Beach Band Live in Concert - Come listen to the sounds of this veteran Carolina beach music band who is most noted for the monster beach anthem “I Love Beach Music” from ‘79. Bring a beach chair or blanket as the band performs your favorite songs. No coolers, please. South Stage, South side of lake. FREE.
6 p.m. – NEW! Beach, Boogie and BBQ 5K Run/Walk, 1 Mile Run/Walk and 50 yd. Tot Trot – Registration begins at 4 p.m. 5K begins at 6 p.m., 1 Mile begins at 7 p.m. and Tot Trot begins at 7:30 p.m. Registration located near boat dock on North side of lake. 6 - 8 p.m. - Anything But Pork Contest and Tasting - Come sample dishes from shrimp creole to homemade ice cream and anything in between that is Anything But Pork! Located on Football Field, South side of lake. $5 for five sampling tickets. All proceeds benefit the Omar Shriner charities.
6 p.m. – 10 p.m. – Get some BBQ! – By popular demand, BBQ sandwiches from competitors will be on sale Friday! Football field, South side of lake.
7 - 10 p.m. – Food Vendors - Curb your sweet tooth, wet your whistle and grab a bite to eat fromone of our many food vendors located throughout Grand Park.
8 – 9:30 p.m. – John Michael Montgomery Concert – Grammy Nominee, John Michael Montgomery, will perform his many hits, such as “I Swear,” “Sold” and “I Love the Way You Love Me,” as well as introduce some new material from his CD “Time Flies” that will be out in September. Bring a chair or blanket and a partner to dance with. No coolers, please. Main Stage, North side of lake. FREE.

10 a.m. - Official Beach Boogie and Barbeque Welcome Ceremony - Officially kickoff this Labor Day weekend festival. Appearances by Miss Sun Fun 2009 and Miss Sun Fun Teen 2009 and more! Welcome hosted by Diane D. Stokes. Main Stage, North side of lake. FREE.
10 a.m. – Noon – Free Celebrity Meet and Greet with Austin Peck – Come meet Austin Peck, “Brad Snyder” from As the World Turns. Get an autograph or take a photo! Meet and greets will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Tent #1 near Main Stage, North side of lake. FREE.
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Wheels at the Beach Car Show presented by Beach Bouncers - Car enthusiasts can view a variety of classic and antique cars organized by the Myrtle Beach Car Club. All proceeds benefit CASA. Come out and vote for your favorite! Located along Farrow Parkway. Free to spectators.
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. – Arts and Crafts Vendors – Be ready to do a little shopping! With vendors selling jewelry, children’s clothing and other unique items, you’re sure to find someone for everyone! Located throughout Grand Park.
10 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Boat Rides on the Lake provided by Coastal Marine - Take a scenic pontoon boat ride around the festival lake. Located on the boat ramp, North side of lake. FREE.

10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Clay Brown and Legend Band Live in Concert - Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy a variety of music performed by Clay Brown and Legend Band! Remember, bring a beach chair or blanket and a friend. No coolers, please. Main Stage, North side of lake. FREE.
11 a.m. – 8 p.m. - Barbeque Sandwiches and Plates for Sale - Come taste the mouth-watering, jaw dropping barbeque from some of the best barbeque cookers in the country. All proceeds benefit the Omar Shriner charities. From barbeque plates to barbeque sandwiches we promise you won’t go away hungry! Ticket booths and BBQ tents located throughout festival grounds. Value prices are $3 for a BBQ sandwich, $6 for a combo (BBQ sandwich, chips, and soda) and $8 for a BBQ plate (BBQ meat, bakes beans, coleslaw, bread and soda).

2 p.m. - International Federation of Competitive Eating – BBQ Sandwich Eating Championship - Be astounded as you watch some of the nation’s finest competitors vie for the Barbeque Sandwich Eating Championship trophy. The 2007 winner was National World Champion Joey Chestnut. Organized by the International Federation of Competitive Eating and Major League Eating Association. 4 - 4:30 p.m. - South Carolina Education Lottery’s “Summer Escape SM 2008” Grand Prize Event – On your mark…get set…SCRATCH! Five pre-selected finalists will scratch off oversize tickets to uncover fabulous travel-themed prizes! One Grand Prize winner will receive a Ford F-150® truck, a Carnival® cruise for four people, and one million airline miles all valued at more than $60,000! Two second place finalists will each win $3,000 cash and two third place finalists will win $1,000 each. 5:30 p.m. - Announcement of Smoke on the Beach Barbeque Championship Winners - Come witness premier competitors of the Official Barbeque Championship of South Carolina vie for the $3,000 Grand Champion title and potentially go home with over $20,000 in winnings.
